About Us

Tradition

Our services are steeped with traditional Christian values. When you attend a service at IMC you will receive a well thought out, well researched, Bible based sermon. Reverend Gilbert is a teaching minister and you will not only get life application, you will learn from one of the most respected Pastors in town!

Life

Fellowship is a key part of our Christian family and we spend quality time together after church and during special events and services throughout the year! Every Saturday service is followed with fellowship hour. We spend time with our church family in mission work, service in the community, and working around the church.

Art

When your Pastor has two Art Degrees, you can expect to see artistic expression in his ministry. We focus on the arts with musical and visual aspects during services. Seasonal decorations and guest musicians make up a great part of our worship tradition. We have scaled back some of our decorations over the years but we are still known for the beautiful decorations we display.

Founded in 1988, Independent Methodist Church first met in the Roger DeCarbo funeral home. After two months of meeting, the church began renting our current location prior to purchasing it. Interestingly enough the property was known as a local “watering hole” dating back to the 1930’s. Prior to our church, the property housed seven different bars and restaurants. The fact that this building was a “watering hole” and is now serving Living Water is not lost on our congregation!

In the early days of our church we were known for our giant flea market, decorations, and open houses. Our ministry and mission still benefits our local community. Our congregation is not a “one size fits all” church… we have many different ages, diverse backgrounds, and unique composition.
