Answers come when everyone A.C.T.S!

Prayer is very personal and in some cases, prayer can be intimidating. How do I pray, what should I pray for, or is there a special order to prayer? In actuality, the only reason prayer might be difficult is that we make it that way!

Prayer is a personal conversation with the Most High… it is your time to grow in relation with God. Like any parent, God wants the best for you. He wants to bless you, he wants to spend time with you, he wants your appreciation, your love, and respect. How you converse with God is up to you and your style. Need some prayer motivation? Grab your Bible and read Jesus’ instruction to prayer in: Luke 11:2-4 or Matthew 6:9-13.

I wanted to share something else with you that may help you in prayer. The ACTS model helped me and is always front of mind when I pray. A - Adoration, C - Confession, T - Thanksgiving, S - Supplication. What might this look like in practice?

Adoration - “Heavenly Father you are the King of Kings, maker of all things. I lift your name up and give you all the glory!”

Confession - “I am a sinner that has not lived as you are calling me to live and I pray for forgiveness.”

Thanksgiving - “I am truly blessed and I give thanks for your guiding light and all the blessings you have delivered into my life!”

Supplication - “I pray that you will lead me closer to you. I pray that you will guard my family and be with all those who need you in special ways. I pray that you will guide us all towards prayer and closer relationship with you. Amen”

Prayer doesn’t have to be perfect, it has to be personal with a pure heart. Use each day as an opportunity to draw closer to God. Do more than the occasional emergency prayer. God loves you and wants to hear from you!
